REBD 2026 is a unique opportunity to engage deeply in racial equity conversations alongside community leaders, philanthropic partners, and international experts. Across the Americas, we are living through one of the most significant challenges to human rights, democracy, and racial justice in recent history. The urgency to respond has left little space to pause, reflect, and reimagine how we move forward.
Through ongoing dialogue with partners and experts across the region, one message is clear: our communities need coordinated action, shared learning, and collective defense now more than ever.
REBD 2026 creates the space to pause, breathe, and plan for meaningful action. Each of us plays a role in advancing racial equity. Philanthropic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and grassroots leaders come together to share experiences, strategies, and visions for dismantling systemic oppression.

Over the past two years, REBD has focused on building a cross-sector ecosystem connecting philanthropy, nonprofit organizations, grassroots leaders, and experts to collectively envision how racial equity can look like across the Americas. Together, we have examined the realities of global racism, explored how it manifests in our communities, and reflected on philanthropy’s role in strengthening inclusive democracies. We have also begun imagining the tools and systems needed to support this work.
REBD 2026 marks the transition from vision to action. As democratic norms face pressure, racialized communities confront escalating threats, and human rights are challenged, our collective response becomes more urgent.

OUR AGENDA
Join us while we dive into panels, conversations, and brainstorming around the following themes:
Democracy at a Crossroads
The United States is witnessing a systematic dismantling of its democratic institutions, driven by a colonial framework established 125 years ago to codify inequality. This theme will examine how domestic precedents destabilize global democratic norms and why deconstructing this foundational history is essential to building a truly inclusive, multi-ethnic future. Conversations will explore the insights necessary to reimagine an authentically equitable democracy for the entire hemisphere.
The Rule of Law
Upkeeping Civil Protections as a Cornerstone of Democracy Throughout the Globe the Rule of Law serves as a powerful counterbalance to Executive and Legislative overreach. We will explore the work underway to ensure courts play a critical role in upholding Democracy.
Why Free Expression Matters Now?
Conversation about the importance of free press and freedom of speech (Narrative power, misinformation, culture (social media), and democratic voices). All while centering Afro-descendant voices.
The Global Contract
Securing Peace through Collective Action
Conversation will support the transition from institutional dialogue to a coordinated global movement through collaborative action and commitments.
